We’re hiring! Can you help?
Positive Money has been around for just over 2 years, and it’s time now to move into the next phase. We’re on the verge of widespread media coverage (we’ve started getting calls from TV and radio – more about that later) and many mainstream academics and organisations, as well as the public at large, are now taking an interest in the possibility of changing the monetary system that is fuelling so many of our current economic and social problems.
But there are just too many opportunities to follow up, people to meet, journalists to contact and events to speak at. That means we’re missing opportunities because we simply don’t have the time or people to handle them. So we’re looking to get someone on board who can help us make the most of these opportunities and help drive Positive Money’s campaign forwards.
We’re looking for a full-time Campaign & Operations Manager who will coordinate the organisation’s work on raising awareness of problems with the monetary and banking system amongst the public, policy makers and activists. This person will be responsible for planning and managing our projects and campaigns, working closely with Mira and Henry to use video and the internet to raise awareness of the deep problems with our debt-based monetary system. This will free up Ben Dyson and Andrew Jackson to spend time meeting the many different organisations, academics and potential allies that we’ve been unable to meet because we’ve been so busy to date. We also want someone with new ideas, energy and creativity to help get our message out to a much wider audience.
If you think you might have the skills required for this challenging role please check out the job description: Full Time Position: Campaign & Operations Manager. If you know someone who might be interested, please forward this to them.
Applications need to be in by 23.59 on Thursday 18th October with a CV and covering letter explaining the candidate’s suitability and interest in the role. We’ll be interviewing people from the 23rd October and hope to start working with the successful candidate in November.
Can you help us pay for them and this new phase in our campaign?
This new role and this new stage in our campaign both require new financial support. Over the next year we will be significantly increasing our activity with clear targets for changing awareness in the public, major organisations, media and amongst politicians. We are serious about making the changes to the financial system that are so essential and urgent! So we are also looking both for more regular funds from our supporters and also for new sources of significant funding from organisations or patrons. Can you help?
Any donations made in October will be DOUBLED…
Compared to most not-for-profits and charities, we’re tiny and don’t have any huge funders to support our work. This is an area that is hard to fund as it is doesn’t fit into many conventional charity boxes. We depend on the monthly donations of around 300 of the 10,000 people receiving this email, to provide half of all our funding, plus a number of grants from smaller charitable trusts. We take salaries that are enough to live on but far less than we could earn elsewhere, so that any extra money goes into growing the team and the movement.
The R H Southern Trust, who helped Positive Money to get off the ground, are currently matching any donations set up this month, for the next 12 months. That means if you start donating £10 a month, it’ll be matched with an additional £120 over the next year. If we can raise an extra £800 a month in donations, this will be doubled by the RH Southern Trust and we’ll be able to cover a salary for the new campaign manager.
You can set up a monthly donation here.
Alternatively, you can also make a one-off donation via Paypal here. One-off donations will also be matched by the R H Southern Trust.
If you’d like to donate by cheque or bank transfer, just reply to this email and we’ll reply with all the details you need.
And if you are interested in supporting Positive Money more substantially or know of routes to significant funding to help us in our new phase of activity and campaigning, please get in touch personally.
Thank you…
Finally, we’d like to give a big Thank You to everyone who has helped in any way to date. We’re on the verge of making a much bigger impact and we’re getting closer to real reforms that would make money and banking work for ordinary people.
