The Mission
We want to train up 50 individuals to be able to speak about the need for money reform to groups and events around the country. Getting the wider public to understand the issues with our debt-based bank-created money system is essential if we want things to actually change, so this is a key step towards spreading the word.
After training, you’ll be able to speak to other groups or arrange your own events to raise awareness of the need for money reform. At times you’ll be speaking officially on behalf of Positive Money, but you’ll also be able to speak independently to various groups. There are a certain number of events that Positive Money is invited to present at, but we also expect that speakers will be proactive in finding local events and arranging to speak at them.

Training Requirements
- You must be able to work through the ‘Essential Reading’ on the reading list BEFORE the training day. We will assume a certain level of knowledge on the training day itself, and we will not be repeating any of the talks or presentations on the day, so it is essential that you have studied this beforehand.
- You must have a realistic intention of speaking to various groups, looking for local events that you could speak at and putting yourself forward for them, and/or organising a local Positive Money meetup which would be advertised (by you – as the training will cover) to the wider public.
- You MUST be able to attend one of the events in person. We will make the materials available online for anyone outside the UK or unavailable to attend, but we will only ask people that we have worked with in person to represent Positive Money.
- You must be willing to separate other personal political beliefs from the issue of money reform when speaking on behalf of Positive Money (although of course your strength when speaking independently may be relating the money issue back to your own political background or field). More training will be given on this.
- This is entirely voluntary; there’s almost certain to be no speaking fees, and small travel expenses may also come out of your own pocket (although conferences and ticketed events can usually cover travel costs, and a whip round at Positive Money events should cover expenses).
Costs
Even operating on a shoestring, it will cost us about £1000 in total to train up 50 speakers. We need to spread these costs, so we’re asking everyone to contribute £10 to cover the venue costs for the training days. Once you have registered below you will be given a link to pay via Paypal (or via cheque).
If the costs, including travel and any accommodation, will be a barrier to you participating, and you’re in one of the further parts of the UK (especially Cornwall, Wales, northern Ireland and northern Scotland) please contact us on [email protected] and we will see what can be done to spread the costs.

3. Within 5 days we will respond to confirm your place on the day. If the training day is already full or we have further questions we will contact you. If we’re unable to fit you on a training day we will refund you in full.
